Uragan – MB Launch Vehicle Successfully Passed Preliminary Tests
In the beginning of July, VOLATAVTO JSC successfully passed preliminary tests of the 9P140MB Uragan launch vehicle, which were conducted within the framework of R&D activities aimed at the modernisation of the product.
The upgraded launch vehicle fully confirmed all the claimed characteristics and requirements for endurance and environmental durability, electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM), ergonomics and industrial design, ease of maintenance activity.
During the R&D work, the outdated ZiL-135 automobile chassis was replaced with the domestic MAZ-6317. The product provides the required mobility on public roads and off-roads. The vehicle’s changeover from travel position to fire position and back is provided in the required time, with less physical effort of the combat crew than on the previous version of the system – 9P140.
The upgraded MLRS is capable of being loaded from a standard transporter-loader vehicle.
When tested, the product demonstrated stability during salvo firing and the robustness of all fabrications at the limit angle of rotation of the multiple launching pod. The cockpit is protected from the back-blast.
The launch vehicle is equipped with modern means of navigation, communication systems and guidance automation of domestic production, ensuring the effective use of the product for its intended purpose.
