Prospects for Further Development of Military-Economic Cooperation Within the Framework of the CSTO Are Identified at the XVIII Meeting of the ICFEC

On 27 November 2020, the XVIII meeting of the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (ICFEC CSTO) led by Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the ICFEC CSTO Yuri Borisov was held in the videoconference mode.

The meeting was attended by CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov, Minister of SAMI Dzmitry Pantus, as well as the delegations of the national units of the Commission of the Organisation member states.

The meeting summed up the results of the Commission activities since its previous session in Yerevan (Republic of Armenia) in September last year, including the terms of the implementation of the activities of the Programme of military-economic cooperation of the CSTO member states, adopted in May 2016. The prospects for further development of military-economic cooperation within the framework of the CSTO have also been determined.

Following the discussion of the agenda, decisions were made to improve multilateral cooperation in this area, the tasks of the Commission for 2021 were determined.

In particular, the decisions reflected the issues of organising and conducting joint R&D on the development and modernisation of military products, the implementation of joint measures in the field of diversification of products of national enterprises and organisations of defence-industrial (military-industrial) complexes of the CSTO member states.

The Commission approved new candidates for the heads and members of the coordination councils and working groups operating under the Commission. Alexander Nozdrachev was unanimously approved as the Chairman of the Business Council for the next three-year term.

The next meeting of the Commission will be held in Minsk in September 2021.
