Naypyidaw Hosts 10th Meeting of Joint Belarus-Myanmar Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation
On 27-30 November 2017, the 10th anniversary meeting of the Joint Belarus-Myanmar Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation was held in Naypyidaw, Myanmar.
The Belarusian delegation was led by Igor Demidenko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom). Deputy Defence Ministry of Myanmar Rear Admiral Myint Nwe led the Myanmar delegation.
The commission meeting was attended by members of the Belarusian and Myanmar sections, representatives of Goscomvoyenprom companies and Belarusian defence enterprises.
The parties confirmed mutual interest in the development of bilateral military-technical cooperation and noted that cooperation between Belarus and Myanmar is systematic, as evidenced by the 10th anniversary meeting of the commission.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the measures outlined in the final protocol of the previous meeting of the commission, discussed promising projects of bilateral military-technical cooperation and determined the procedure for their further implementation.
On 28 November, Igor Demidenko held talks with Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Igor Demidenko stressed the readiness of the Belarusian side to cooperate in a wide range of areas, including repair and modernisation of armaments and military equipment, deliveries, as well as production of advanced military products with the possibility of transferring relevant technologies.
A protocol was signed at the end of the 10th meeting of the commission.
