MWTP JSC Develops Special Chassis
Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant is working to create a new model of military-technical vehicles — a special MZKT-692251 chassis, which is intended as the transport platform of the combat station of the wheeled version of the BUK-MB3K surface-to-air missile (SAM).
The new product will be all-wheel drive, have a 6 x 6 wheel arrangement with steered wheels of the first axis. The chassis load capacity determined by the mass of the mounted equipment will be 7 tonnes.
Some external features, as well as the main components and assemblies of the MZKT-692251 chassis are similar to the MZKT-692250 chassis due to the fact that the transporter-erector-launcher and transporter-erector-launcher-radar systems of the BUK-MB3K SAM are mounted on the MZKT-692250 chassis.
An engine TMZ-8463.10 with a capacity of 500 hp and a six-speed hydromechanical gearbox of own production are installed on the chassis. The transmission used a two-speed transfer case manufactured at the enterprise and split axles with a system of interaxle and interwheel differentials. The smooth running of the chassis is ensured by an independent hydropneumatic suspension with electronic control.
An on-board data and control system is installed on the product, which monitors its operation parameters and displays data on one of two color graphic displays.
The airframe design is determined by the placement of equipment and the combat station crew and consists of three main compartments: control, operator and motor-transmission. The crew compartment is bulletproof like on the MZKT-692250 chassis. It is equipped with heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems, and its height due to the “cap” above the front of the chassis is 570 mm higher than on the MZKT-692250 one. The MZKT-69221-131 chassis, which is a part of the command station of the Buk-M2E surface-to-air missile system of Russian manufacture, was made in a similar way, but unlike the chassis of that product, the MZKT-692251 “cap” was redesigned. The novelty is also equipped with automatic fire extinguishing systems and lubrication of the moving joints of the suspension and steering.
