Belarus Strengthens Diplomatic and Business Ties with Africa

On 31 May 2021, the second Belarusian-African Economic Forum was held in the congress hall of the President Hotel, as well as bilateral negotiations in the B2D format (business-to-diplomats) with the heads and representatives of the diplomatic missions of African countries accredited in the Republic of Belarus. The event was organised by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

The forum was attended by about twenty foreign diplomats - heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Gabonese Republic, Zambia, the Republic of Kenya, Morocco, the Republic of Mozambique, the Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Sudan, the United Republic of Tanzania, South Africa. Belarusian business was represented by the heads of more than 170 export-oriented enterprises in the fields of heavy, light and food industries, agriculture, mining and other areas of activity.

During the discussion “Africa - prospects for cooperation with the Republic of Belarus”, foreign diplomats presented information on the state of trade and economic relations, investment projects and prospects for cooperation development.

Within the framework of the forum, the head of the marketing and sales department of Agat – Electromechanical Plant JSC Sergey Gopkalo and his deputy Anatoly Bortnikov held negotiations with the adviser of the South African diplomatic mission Madivkha Aaron Mudimeli, the  minister-counselor of the Mozambique diplomatic mission Manuel Carlus and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Sudan Ms. Amal Ahmed on possible areas of cooperation and promotion of the company’s products.

The participants noted that the economic forum will strengthen ties between Belarus and African countries, establish partnerships in business and discuss mutually beneficial projects.
