CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
I Conference Organizers:
State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of
Belarus, State Military Industrial Committee (www.vpk.gov.by),
Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Education, Ministry of
Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Ministry of Trade, State Committee for Science and Technologies, National
Academy of Sciences, Belarus, State Aviation Committee, State Customs Committee,
National Security Committee, Minsk Municipal Executive Committee, Belarusian
Institute of System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical
Sphere (belisa.org.by).

Conference Goal:
Survey and discussions on main trends in materiel research, defense and security
issues through boostering R&D and high-tech industries, implementation of
dual-use technologies. Special emphasis is made for building up a closer
cooperation and integration of defense industries from different countries.
III
Conference Participants and Format:
High
executive officials, CEOs, top managers from defense ministries and
governmental bodies, high caliber defense researchers from leading
scientific and education institutions, local and foreign enterprises and
companies involved in promising defense and dual-use technologies.
The
participating organizations and companies will be provided with a good
opportunity to demonstrate their technologies and solutions, to share
information and disseminate advertising materials, to make presentations
on their advanced products. Delegates from 43 countries have been
already invited to the 4th International Exhibition of Arms and Military
Machinery “MILEX-2007” held by the BelExpo National Exhibition Centre.
It is
planned to hold thematic sections in subject-related fields.
IV Key Subjects:
1)
Military engineering aspects of defense and security, interaction and control of
army-related components in national defense systems under war conflicts and
non-military actions;
2)
Development of military engineering collaboration in line with a common
and comprehensive security concept;
3)
Scientific and technical grounds for novel defense technologies,
armament and defense systems; design and implementation of advanced
defense and dual-use technologies;
4)
Reconnaissance, control and destruction means;
5) Means and
methods of protection for army personnel and economic sites;
6)
Information technologies and computer-aided systems for troops and
weapon controls, information protection systems;
7) Specific
technical safety means; anti-terror equipment and techniques;
8) Upgrade
and repair of materiel, armament utilization;
9) Means and
technologies for emergency situations prevention and elimination;
10)
Standardization, certification and metrology in defense and dual-use
products.

Military Machinery is scheduled on May 22, 2007 at 12-00 at the pavilion
of the BelExpo Exhibition Center (address: 14 Pobeditelei Ave, Minsk).

VI Terms and Conditions for Participation:
Deadline for
registration — April 30, 2007.
Participation in the conference is free and includes plenary and section
sessions and a book of abstracts.
1. The
registration fee of US $ 50 will be required for a social program, a
business cocktail and a full conference information package.
2. The
registration fee of US $ 100 will cover both events given in Item 1 and
some additionally provided excursions and entertainments. Registration
fees may be paid on the spot.
VII Forms of Participation:
Oral and (or) poster presentations, demonstration of technologies and solutions,
abstract publication.
VIII Cooperation opportunities: domestic and foreign organizations and
companies are welcomed for the Conference sponsorship. They will be offered
opportunities for information materials dissemination and probable satellite
symposium holding. Advertising and scientific papers (up to 10 pages) may be
submitted to a special issue of the Science and Technology News Journal that is
to be published before the Conference.
IX INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT’S AUTHORS
Authors are
requested to submit their abstracts typed single-spaced, in English or
in Russian, in two copies on no more than two pages of A4 format as well
as on a floppy in Word’97,’2000 under Windows, for formula — in the
Word’s formula editor. Type size of 12 points in Times must be used.
Practice typing the abstract with the indent of 1cm, the alignments of:
left — 3 cm, right — 1 cm, upper — 2 cm, lower — 2cm.
Layout:
the title should be in upper case (capitals); abbreviations must not be
used in the title. List the authors, affiliated institutions, city and
country. Authors should be listed by surnames followed by initials only.
Illustrations (except diagrams in MS Excel, MS Graph) are added as
separate files with numbers in Arabic and with extension, indicating the
used format (*1.TIF, *2.JPEG, etc.). Every illustration is expected to
have a title that would fit into the space under the figure or table.
References should be typed in the end of the text in the order of their
occurrence. All references cited should be quoted in the text in
rectangular brackets. Each reference must begin on a new line. Give the
name and e-mail of the author who will present the paper.
